Epic Integration Documentation

1. Overview

ALY is a clinical collaboration and care coordination platform designed to integrate with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The application enables authorized healthcare users to securely access consult-related information and supports efficient communication between clinical teams and healthcare organizations.

2. Intended Use
ALY is intended to be used by authorized healthcare professionals and administrative staff to view and manage consult requests, access facility and provider contact information, support secure communication between healthcare teams, and improve coordination of care and operational workflows. ALY does not replace Epic EHR workflows or provide clinical decision-making support.

3. Target Users
ALY is designed for Clinical Teams (physicians, nurses, care coordinators), Healthcare Administrators and Executives, and authorized hospital staff.

4. Data Access & Usage
ALY accesses only the minimum necessary data required for its intended function. This may include hospital or
facility name, requesting provider details, contact information, consult type and status, and relevant patient identifiers when authorized. All data access is governed by Epic security policies.

5. Security & Privacy
ALY is built with healthcare-grade security controls including secure authentication, role-based access control, encrypted data transmission, audit logging, and compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations. Patient data is never shared with unauthorized third parties.

6. Workflow Overview
Authorized users authenticate into ALY, retrieve consult-related information from Epic, review consult details, initiate secure communication, and all activities are logged for compliance and auditing purposes.

ALY provides consult listing and detail views, secure messaging and communication tools, workflow coordination features, real-time notifications, user role management, and audit and activity logging.

8. Limitations
ALY does not provide clinical decision-making recommendations, does not modify Epic medical records, and does not replace Epic documentation workflows.

9. Compliance & Standards
ALY aligns with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, Epic App Orchard policies, healthcare interoperability standards, and organizational IT security requirements.
